Central Bank of India: Zonal Based Officers (ZBO) Eligibility Criteria

A. Nationality/Citizenship

Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and other specified countries.

B. Age (as of 30th November 2024)

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 32 years
  • Candidates must have been born between 1st December 1992 and 30th November 2003 (inclusive).
Age Relaxation
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
    (13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST)
  • Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
  • Maximum age limit for PwBD candidates: 56 years

Educational Qualification (as of 30th November 2024)

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) and professional qualifications like Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, and Cost Accountant are also eligible.

D. Work Experience

  • Officer Cadre: Minimum 1 year in Scheduled Commercial Banks, Scheduled Co-operative Banks, or NBFCs with assets of ₹500 crore or more.
  • Clerical Cadre: Minimum 3 years (NBFC clerical experience excluded).

  • Selected candidates will not be transferred to other zones until they are promoted to MMGS-III Grade.
  • No foreign postings or deputations will be allowed for 10 years or until promotion to MMGS-III.

  • Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – ₹85,920 (Incremental structure: ₹2000/7 – ₹2340/2 – ₹2680/7).
  • Additional allowances and benefits will be as per the Bank’s policy.

The recruitment process consists of:

  1. Online Test:
    • 120 questions, 120 marks, 80 minutes.
    • Sections:
      • English Language: 20 questions, 20 marks
      • Banking Knowledge: 60 questions, 60 marks
      • Computer Knowledge: 20 questions, 20 marks
      • Economic Awareness & General Knowledge: 20 questions, 20 marks
  2. Interview:
    • Weightage: 30% of total marks.
    • Qualifying Marks:
      • General: 50%
      • SC/ST/OBC/PwBD: 45%
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test:
    • Mandatory for the selected zone. Candidates with 10th/12th certificates showing language proficiency are exempted.

The online test will be conducted in 30 cities across India, including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Candidates will be allotted centers based on their preference, but the Bank reserves the right to merge centers if required.
